Gonzales broke the Guinness World Record for longest solo concert after he played for more than 27 hours in Paris, France this weekend.

Gonzales (real name Jason Charles Beck) had more than 300 songs on hand during the performance at Paris' Cine 13 Theatre, which began at midnight on Sunday and clocked in at 27 hours, three minutes and 44 seconds. It breaks the 26-hour, 12-minute record set by India's Prasanna Gudi in December.

Gonzales drew on his own material and played songs from film scores, television, Beethoven, Neil Young, George Gershwin and Britney Spears, among others, according to Agence France-Presse. He was only allowed to play each song once.

"I've read the [Guinness World Records] book and I find this combination of the poetic and the useless irresistable," Gonzales told Agence France-Presse.

"I remember a guy who put 143 cigarettes in his mouth: it was purposeless, but he was the only one to do it!"

Guinness representatives were at the show to judge and test Gonzales for performance-enhancing drugs.

Gonzales was allowed a 15-minute break after each three-hour set and a 30-second pause between songs. He also shaved on stage, answered a videographer's questions, changed into and out of pyjamas and ate some cereal while he played, according to CBC News.
