Former Shins drummer Jesse Sandoval has decided to try his hand at street vending.

Sandoval and keyboardist Marty Crandall were recently turfed from The Shins and have been replaced by bassist Ron Lewis (Grand Archives, Fruit Bats) and drummer Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse) for the group's current tour and the recording of their fourth album that's expected early next year through singer/guitarist James Mercer's Aural Apothecary label. The Shins recently left Sub Pop Records.

Sandoval plans to open a taco cart in The Shins' base of Portland, Ore. next week. It will be called Nuevo Mexico as a tribute to his home state of New Mexico, where The Shins formed in 1997.

You can eat Sandoval's tacos at the intersection of Portland's 3rd and SW Stark streets and see The Shins here:

May 14 Washington, DC @ 9:30 Club

May 17 Montclair, NJ @ Wellmont Theatre
May 18 New York, NY @ Terminal 5
May 20 Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theatre
May 21 New York, NY @ Terminal 5

Just for the hell of it, here's Taco:
