The Olympic Island Festival, which was to take place on Toronto's Olympic Island on July 11, has been cancelled.
No reason was given for canning the show, which was supposed to feature headliners Broken Social Scene, Explosions In The Sky, Thunderheist, Beach House, Apostle Of Hustle and Rattlesnake Choir. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
Perhaps ticketholders can find consolation in the fact that Broken Social Scene will play a free show on July 11 at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre.
"We are disappointed that the Olympic Island concert — our favourite day of the year — has been cancelled for 2009," the band wrote in a MySpace blog entry today (Wednesday). "We will try again next year."
Broken Social Scene played Olympic Island in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Here's Broken Social Scene's tour itinerary:
July 3 Rothbury, MI @ Rothbury Festival
July 4 Des Moines, IA @ 80/35 Festival
July 11 Toronto, ON @ Harbourfront Centre w/Rattlesnake Choir (free)
July 26 Lake Tahoe, CA @ Squaw Valley (Wanderlust Festival)
