Stereos Sign With Universal Music Canada

Stereos

Stereos, an Edmonton quintet formerly known as Turn It Up who got their big break on MuchMusic's DisBand series, have signed with Universal Music Canada.

Singer Pat Kordyback, guitarists Robby Chalifoux and Miles Holmwood, bassist Daniel Johnson and drummer Aaron Verdonk will be featured in DisBand's season-ending episode at 8 p.m. ET on May 27. The video for Stereos' first single, "Summer Girl," will premiere on MuchOnDemand the next day at 5 p.m. The group will also perform on the show.

"Stereos are an eclectic band whose star is rising, and I can't wait for them to be introduced to MuchMusic's audience and the music fans across the country," says Universal A&R representative and a DisBand judge, Mark Spicoluk.

Stereos are working with producer Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Billy Talent) on their debut album, which should be released in the fall. You can hear a demo recording of "Throw Ya Hands Up" on Stereos' MySpace page.

More than 700 groups applied to appear on DisBand's first season, and 21 made it. Those interested in applying for the second season can find out how here.
