NXNE Talent Lineup Keeps Getting Bigger

The North By Northeast Music Festival has revealed the names of more acts who'll appear at the 15th annual event in Toronto from June 17 to 21.

About 500 local, national and international artists will perform at 50 venues around the city. Notable new additions include The Sonics, The Cool Kids, Melissa Auf Der Maur, The Homosexuals, a reunited Change Of Heart and Wu-Tang Clan's GZA, who'll also be the subject of a public interview as part of the event's conference component at the recently renamed Hyatt Regency Toronto.

More than 25 films will be screened at the NFB Mediatheque as part of NXNE's film festival, and the NXPO music and lifestyle trade show will also feature a day stage for performances.

A third annual charity soccer game to benefit the Right To Play organization will take place on the afternoon of June 21 at BMO Field. The Rockers will take on The Rollers, and Olympic medalist Adam Van Koeverden, Great Big Sea's Murray Foster and Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning are among the confirmed participants so far. Toronto FC players will coach the two squads. Tickets cost six dollars, and those who can't attend but would like to donate to the cause can do so here.

A variety of entry wristbands can be purchased from the NXNE website, where updates about the various aspects of the event should be posted regularly.
