Caribou's Dan Snaith has been working on the follow-up to the 2008 Polaris Music Prize-winning Andorra, but will take time out to play a number of band and DJ sets this summer.
The Caribou Vibration Ensemble — featuring Kieran Hebden (who's probably better known as Four Tet), Koushik, John Schmersal, Kathryn Bint, Ahmed Gallab, a four-piece horn section, a choir and four drummers — will perform at Toronto's Opera House on Sept. 10 and at the Flaming Lips-curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Monticello, N.Y. on Sept. 13. Sun Ra Arkestra leader Marshall Allen will also be part of the group's lineup for the ATP show.
Bassist Andy Lloyd will play those shows, but will no longer be part of Caribou's touring lineup since he's now touring with Born Ruffians. Schmersal, who's been in Enon and Brainiac, will replace him.
Snaith has remixed Cortney Tidwell's "Watusii" under the name Daphni. It will be released by City Slang soon.
