Tegan And Sara Start Recording

Tegan And Sara officially began recording their sixth album on Friday.
The Quin twins are working on the as-yet-untitled disc at Los Angeles' Sound City Studios, according to CBC Radio 3. Howard Redekopp (The New Pornographers, Mother Mother) and Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla are co-producing the record. Redekopp was one of the producers of 2004's So Jealous, while Walla, who spilled the beans about working on the project on CNN, co-produced 2007's The Con with Tegan And Sara.
CBC Radio 3 reports that Tegan And Sara are expected to finish recording the album in early July, and it should be out in October. Here's hoping they don't bicker in the studio as much as they did while recording the last two albums. Who are we kidding? They probably are.
NOFX's Fat Mike recently responded to the controversy over "Creeping Out Sara," a song on NOFX's recently released Coaster that "disses" Tegan And Sara.
"It's basically a true story," he told Spinner.com. "I was drunk, we did hang out at a festival and we were talking about sex.
"I mean, I'm dissing myself! I sound like a drunk creep, so I don't know what the problem is.
"Their fans think I'm making fun of them, but I'm not. We had a really nice time that day."
Mike recently found out he met Tegan backstage instead of Sara as he'd previously thought, and told Spinner he's glad he wrote a different version called "Creeping Out Tegan," which can be found on the vinyl version of Coaster. Mike said he'd been talking to Tegan about the song, and she had written about it on the twins' Twitter (which isn't public).
"nofx + t/s = lots of email/texts/blogs/phone calls. i think punk in drublic is a great record. we r lesbians. sara was creeped. i AM cooler," she wrote, referring to the line in "Creeping Out Sara" where Mike calls her "the cooler one."
Mike said Tegan had been in contact with him about the song, and doesn't understand why people are calling him "homophobic" about it.
"We've been supporters of the LGBT community forever," he told Spinner. "We have rainbow flags on our fucking stage.
"We totally support that community. We call ourselves a 'gay positive' band — not 'tolerant,' 'positive.'
"We think gay people are awesome and better than straight people because they're having more fun."
You can see Tegan And Sara with Death Cab For Cutie and The New Pornographers at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on July 5.
