Stone Roses Debut Gets Deluxe Reissues

The 20th anniversary of the release of The Stone Roses' 1989 self-titled debut album will be recognized on Aug. 11 when Silvertone/Legacy releases three different deluxe versions of the album.
The Stone Roses will be available as a single special edition CD remastered by singer Ian Brown and producer John Leckie (Radiohead, Muse) that will also include the full-length version of "Fools Gold." That song wasn't on the original album, but was included on the 1989 and 1991 re-releases.
You'll also be able to get The Stone Roses as a double CD/DVD set that includes the album, a bonus disc of demos and Live In Blackpool, a concert filmed in Blackpool, England in 1989.
There will also be collector's edition featuring: the CD/DVD package; three vinyl LPs with the album and 13 B-sides and non-album singles; a book of photographs and thoughts from the band, Noel Gallagher and Mark Ronson; six prints painted by guitarist John Squire; and a two-gigabyte lemon-shaped USB drive with audio, promotional videos, ringtones, wallpapers and unseen video footage of the band recording "Fools Gold" that was shot by Leckie.
The Stone Roses is considered one of the best British albums ever. It was followed by the band's final album, Second Coming, in 1994. Drummer Alan "Reni" Wren left the band the next year and Squire exited in 1996. Brown and bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield broke the band up that same year and Brown went on to have a mildly successful solo career. Mounfield joined Primal Scream and is still in the band.
