Jack White, Dex Romweber Duo Single Coming

Jack White and the Dex Romweber Duo will release a seven-inch single later this month as part of a new "Blues Series" of singles on White's Third Man Records label.
White produced the single's two tracks, which were recorded last week at his Nashville home studio with engineer Vance Powell (The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather), according to The Tennessean newspaper.
White adds backing vocals and plays acoustic and lead guitar on the A-side, a cover of blueswoman Geeshie Wiley's "Last Kind Word Blues." Dex Romweber sings lead and plays piano and guitar, while his sister Sara Romweber drums.
White sings and plays bass and saw on the B-side, Dex Romweber's "The Wind Did Move." Dex sings and plays guitar and organ, while Sara again drums and plays tambourine.
Each pressing of the single will feature a blue-background photo of the musicians. It will be available through Bloodshot Records' website, the Third Man site and record stores.
White's a longtime fan of former Flat Duo Jets guitarist Dex Romweber, who he influenced his style. That appreciation apparently carried over to the studio.
"At one point during the [recording] process, Dex was in the main room playing his guitar and Jack was behind the control board," Sara told Metromix Nashville.
"Jack had the biggest smile on his face and he turned to me and said, 'You have no idea how long I've waited to hear that guitar tone in my studio.'"
Dex Romweber Duo's Ruins Of Berlin came out early this year through Bloodshot.
The Dead Weather — White's new project with Kills vocalist Alison Mosshart, Queens Of The Stone Age's Dean Fertita and Greenhornes and Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence — will release their Horehound debut album on June 9.
