Virgin Festival Hitting Montreal

The Virgin Festival will be staged in Montreal for the first time this year, and it's safe to say its lineup appeals to a different demographic than any of the previous Virgin Festivals held in this country.

Black Eyed Peas and New Kids On The Block will headline the June 19 and 20 festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The lineup will also feature Simple Plan, Hedley, The New Cities, 2006 Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila, Akon, Live, LIGHTS and Divine Brown. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Two-day, one-day and VIP tickets go on sale on Saturday at the Bell Centre box office, select Future Shop locations, Future Shop's website, Gillett Entertainment Group or by phone. Two-day tickets will run $133.50, one-day passes will cost $75 and VIP tickets are $313.50.

The Virgin Festival will also expand to Nova Scotia this year, while other Virgin Fests will be held in Ontario, B.C. and Alberta. Host cities and lineups for those events have yet to be announced, but Virgin is now pushing its radio stations in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver as well as Montreal.

Last year's Virgin Festivals were held in Calgary and Toronto. A Vancouver edition was held in 2007 and was supposed to return last year, but organizers canned it.

We're betting a lot of annoying secretaries and high school kids will be at Parc Jean-Drapeau to see these acts playing Virgin Festival Montreal:
