Jeff Tweedy Responds To Bennett's Lawsuit

Wilco leader Jeff Tweedy has responded to the lawsuit filed against him on Monday by former bandmate Jay Bennett for money that the musician/producer believes he's owed from his time in the group.

Tweedy issued this statement through Wilco's publicist:

"I know exactly as much as everyone else does. I've read the news and I honestly have no idea what these claims are based on. It was such a long time ago. Aside from everything else, I'm being sued for not paying someone for appearing in a movie I didn't produce. Go figure.

"I am truly sad it has come to this. I am equally convinced, however, that I have done nothing wrong and that this will be handled fairly and swiftly."

We're not sure if a settlement will be reached or if the suit will make it to trial, but we just hope that Bennett is able to get his hip replacement surgery sooner rather than later.
