White Stripes drummer Meg White is getting married to Jackson Smith, the son of punk icon and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Patti Smith and late MC5 guitarist Fred "Sonic" Smith.
The pair became close last summer and became engaged several weeks ago, reports the Detroit Free Press newspaper. They currently live together in White's home in Detroit and will apparently exchange vows on May 22 in Nashville, Tenn.
"They don't want it to be a circus," a source told the paper. "They want it to be about the two of them."
White, 34, and Smith (who was born in 1982) are also rumoured to be having a reception in Detroit soon after the wedding.
White's infamous first marriage was to her White Stripes bandmate Jack White in 1996, though they often tried to convince the public that they were siblings. They filed for divorce in 2000.
Smith is also a guitarist and has played in such Detroit bands as Back In Spades and in his mother's touring band.
Meg White's not the only musician getting married. Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor will stop Twittering and arguing with Apple long enough to marry West Indian Girl's Mariqueen Maandig.
"q's an awesome person, friend and bandmate and she couldnt be marrying a cooler guy," said an update on the West Indian Girl website.
"talk about analog and digital love - their kids might all have moogs for arms."
