Chad Kroeger is facing a civil lawsuit for allegedly
assaulting a heckler outside a Vancouver bar two years ago.
Kroeger (real name
Chad Turton) could only bear to hear the phrase "
Nickelback sucks" so many times, and allegedly opted to silence furniture salesman Noah Christian Morse around 3 a.m. on the sidewalk outside of the Roxy Nightclub with a sharp punch to the mouth.
Morse has filed a lawsuit against Kroeger through the B.C. Supreme Court that claims he suffered a concussion or brain injury involving a loss of consciousness, dental injuries and discolouration, permanent scars to his face, headaches, sleeplessness, anxiety, moodiness and loss of concentration.
The suit is seeking damages for past and future loss of income and medical expenses, including medication. Morse is also claiming for general, special and punitive damages.
Morse's lawyer, Jeffrey Scouten, said in a Canada.com article that Kroeger had been served with court documents. No statement of defence has been filed.
Vancouver police didn’t charge Kroeger at the time of the alleged assault, and it's not likely they will now.
On the bright side (for Kroeger, at least), he's about to get his driver’s license back this month after
losing it last year for driving with a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in his Lamborghini in June 2006. Kroeger dropped the
appeal of his
conviction in February.
