Hey Rosetta's Van Misadventure

It's not quite as bad as having your tour bus stolen, but Newfoundland indie band Hey Rosetta! ran into travel problems of their own during their Ontario tour dates.

Their van broke down in Peterborough, Ont., forcing them to put the old horse down and scrounge up a new one.

The band found themselves in the predicament while they were trying to make it to a show in Hamilton.

According to a blog post on the band's website, once mechanics declared their old van dead, it necessitated an eight-hour adventure that involved renting a car, driving from Peterborough to Toronto to find an appropriate van to purchase, securing the finances to purchase said van, driving back to Peterborough to pick up their gear, then driving back down to Hamilton to make it for their show.

"but we did it," wrote the band. "and the silvery lining is a silvery shiny ford e350 diesel beauty. not the same personality as the old girl... no shakes, no rumbles, no smells, no scares... but comfy and smooth and strong."

The band are touring in support of 2008's Into Your Lungs (And Around In Your Heart And On Through Your Blood).

Guitarist/pianist/vocalist Tim Baker, guitarist Adam Hogan, bassist Josh Ward, drummer Phil Maloney, violinist Erin Aurich and cellist Romesh Thavanthan are now safely out east finishing up some coastal tour dates on their way back home to the Rock. But they won't be staying home for very long, since the quintet will head to the U.K. in mid-May.
