Lavigne To Represent Canada In China

Avril Lavigne will be Canada's ambassador at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China.
"It's really exciting as it's the first time China has ever hosted World Expo and the theme is 'Better City, Better Life'," Lavigne wrote in a MySpace blog entry yesterday (Monday).
"It's really cool that over 200 countries and international organizations are coming together at World Expo, Shanghai to create a better future for the world."
Lavigne has performed twice in Shanghai, recorded parts of some of her songs in Mandarin, and is very popular in Asia.
Perhaps she can leverage that to pressure China to improve human rights and stop internet censorship to make life better for its people. But don't count on it. She'll have product to sell.
Expo 2010 will take place from May 1 to Oct. 31 next year and is expected to draw 70 million visitors.
