DMX On Celebrity Rehab?

News surfaced on Friday that DMX had signed on to appear in the third season of VH1's Celebrity Rehab television show, but his publicist has since denied that the rapper born Earl Simmons will appear on the show.

Radaronline.com reported Celebrity Rehab's Bob Forrest, the show's resident drug counselor, said DMX was the first celebrity to agree to appear on the show, which is hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky.

"Several media outlets have reported that my client Earl Simmons, a.k.a. DMX, has signed on to appear in VH1's Celebrity Rehab reality show," DMX publicist Pam Pinnock told AllHipHop.com. "These reports are false and Mr. Simmons has not greed to appear in any reality show."

DMX is serving a 90-day sentence for identity theft, drug possession and animal cruelty after he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was recently charged with suspicion of aggravated assault after he allegedly threw a dinner tray at a corrections officer.

DMX was due to leave prison on Thursday, but his release has now been postponed, according to AllHipHop.com.

This isn't the first instance of DMX doing time. He was arrested on weapons charges in 1999 and served a 15-day sentence in 2000 for possession of marijuana. The hip-hop artist went to jail a year later for the same crime and driving without a license. He was also denied an appeal that year and (deja vu) charged with assault for allegedly throwing things at prison guards.

DMX was arrested and charged with cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in 2003 after he allegedly claimed to be an FBI agent and tried to carjack a vehicle. He was given a conditional discharge that same year, but was arrested in 2005 for violating his parole.
