Metric Single Gets Short Film Adaptation

Winnipeg experimental filmmaker Deco Dawson has created a short film using Metric's "Help, I'm Alive," the first single from their recently released Fantasies, as its soundtrack.
Dawson edited Metric's Live At Metropolis concert DVD and oversaw the live filming of the band's December tour. Unbeknownst to the group, he took concert footage of "Help I'm Alive" and "turned it into something that looks like Yo Gabba Gabba on acid," according to an Emily Haines blog post entered on Metric's MySpace page on Monday.
"Jimmy [Shaw, Metric guitarist] held a late night test screening of Deco's creation at Giant Studios to rave reviews and now we have decided to share it with the online world," Haines continued.
"This is not a music video. This is a short film in an imaginary landscape and the soundtrack is 'Help I'm Alive'. Thank you Deco."
Here's the film:
Fantasies has sold more than 24,000 digital copies since it was released late last month, according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper. Nine thousand of those sales have been in the U.S. The newspaper reports Metric have already made more gross revenue off the album than they did from 2005's Live It Out, which sold more than 45,000 copies. Although Fantasies was released through Last Gang in Canada and Arts & Crafts in Mexico, the band self-released the album in the U.S.
"Without any intermediary, we're making 77 cents on the dollar for every record we sell [on iTunes]," co-manager Mathieu Drouin told the Times. He said Metric would have made about 22 cents per record with a traditional record deal.
