Aerosmith, ZZ Top Tour North America

Aerosmith
Aerosmith are working on their first all-original studio album since 2001's Just Push Play with producer Brendan O'Brien (Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen), but will soon leave the studio to team up with ZZ Top for an extensive North American tour.

The Guitar Hero: Aerosmith video game helped reach a new generation of classic rock fans last year, while ZZ Top's Live From Texas debuted at #1 on the U.S. music DVD chart last year.

"I have always been a huge fan of ZZ Top," Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says of the Texas band who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. "I toured with them with the Joe Perry Project, and those shows were unforgettable. With ZZ Top on this bill, it will definitely kick us into overdrive."

Perry is also working the follow-up to his 2005 self-titled, Grammy Award-nominated album.

"I have a big chunk of time before the tour, so I'm gonna try to get the solo record done as soon as I can," Perry told Billboard.com earlier this month. "Chances are you're gonna be hearing that before you hear an Aerosmith record... 'cause I expect the Aerosmith tour, God willing, to continue through the fall."
