Amy Winehouse Is A Poet

Amy Winehouse is writing a book of poetry about her life as "good practice" for a children's book she hopes to write one day.

Winehouse is in St. Lucia, where she's supposed to be working on a new record (which apparently isn't going so well). The U.K.'s Daily Star tabloid reports that Pete Doherty (always a good influence) suggested Winehouse start writing poetry, so she took his advice.

"Amy's been stimulated since living in St. Lucia," a source told the publication.

"She loves the chilled-out Caribbean atmosphere and has found it has encouraged her to write again.

"Pete Doherty once told her that poetry was a good way to express yourself, so she thought writing a book of poems about her life would be a fine start.

"One of them is called 'Desire' and is based on her yearning to be loved and to give love."

Winehouse is apparently pleased with her poems so far and has "even let her minder read her scribbles so she can understand her," the Daily Star reports.

"She really wants to write a children's book one day, so [she] thought a book of poems would be great practice."

Winehouse, who claims she's off drugs, has apparently been smoking banana peels in St. Lucia. Those can't get you high, but marijuana sure can.

The U.K.'s The Sun reports that Winehouse and Snoop Dogg tried to record a few tracks in a Los Angeles studio last year, but had to stop after they smoked too much pot and couldn't finish.

"Amy came to the studio buzzing with ideas and the pair got on really well, even though Snoop turned up in his dressing gown with slippers on, which had Amy giggling," a source said.

"They were working at a frenetic pace at first, but as the day wore on and more smoke breaks took place, the work rate slackened.

"By the time their studio time ended, they had a pair of tracks sketched out but no finished product."
