Flight 666, the documentary about the first leg of Iron Maiden's Somewhere Back In Time world tour, won't be released on DVD and Blu-Ray until June 9 through EMI Music Canada. But you can preview it in theatres on Tuesday, which has been dubbed "Iron Maiden Day."
Flight 666 will be screened at 450 digital movie theatres in 42 countries, including those in Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver. A full list of theatres showing the movie can be found on Iron Maiden's website.
Flight 666 was directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and produced by Banger Productions (Metal: A Headbanger's Story, Global Metal). It follows Maiden on tour and on their private Boeing 757 plane, which is better known as Ed Force One and is piloted by singer Bruce Dickinson. The band played 23 shows on five continents in 45 days during the tour.
"It's been a mammoth undertaking," manager Rob Smallwood says. "From the first twinkle in Bruce's eye, it's taken about three years to put band, crew and equipment in a giant flying 'splitter bus,' to go through all the long and tiresome prep and safety regulations and planning, to the actual filming and of the tour itself, through to post production and right up to putting together all these items in the very best possible quality for our fans."
Flight 666 will be available as a long-play Blu-Ray disc and double DVD with the documentary and a bonus disc with concert footage filmed in 16 cities in 11 different countries. A limited-edition double DVD with the bonus footage and a 30-page booklet will also be available.
A live soundtrack album will be released the same day. It will be available as a double CD, a digital download or in a limited edition with two vinyl picture discs.
