Weakerthans, Death Cab, Cold War Kids Help Africa

It looks like Justin Timberlake, Lupe Fiasco and Kenna (oh, right — and that Bono guy) aren't the only ones out to help Africa.

The Weakerthans are part of a celebrity art auction that will raise money for Song For Africa/Canadian Artists For African Aid Inc., a non-profit organization that works to educate Canadians about African humanitarian issues.

A signed print titled "Please Stay — Don't Go" by Weakerthans guitarist Stephen Carroll is being auctioned on eBay. The proceeds will be donated to Song For Africa. The current high bid is $107.50.

Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Cold War Kids' Nathan Willett have also teamed up to do their bit for Africa. The two bands are on tour together, and the frontmen will both run this month to raise money for Water Wells For Africa, a non-profit organization that provides clean drinking water to the citizens of Malawi.

Gibbard and Willett's miles are being recorded at runforwaterwells.com, and the two musicians are asking their fans to donate a dollar for every mile they complete.
