David Byrne Does Imelda Marcos

Fans of David Byrne, Santigold, Sharon Jones, Tori Amos and women with shoe fetishes married to crooked Filipino politicians should be interested in Byrne's forthcoming concept album, Here Lies Love.

The record revolves around Imelda Marcos, the wife of the late Filipino president Ferdinand Marcos, and is being produced by Norman Cook. Byrne and Cook worked together on "Toe Jam" on The Brighton Port Authority's I Think We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat before the man better known as Fatboy Slim checked himself into rehab earlier this year.

Irish singer/songwriter Roisin Murphy and American hip-pop artist Santigold are among the guest vocalists on Here Lies Love.

"We've got three more singers who have still to record on it, but we're almost there," Byrne recently told Britain's BBC 6 Music.

"There is a different singer on every song, including Sharon Jones [from Amy Winehouse's backing band The Dap-Kings], Alice Russell and Tori Amos. There's a lot of singers, it goes on and on."

Byrne recorded "Knotty Pine" with The Dirty Projectors for the recently released Dark Was The Night charity compilation and appears on the new N.A.S.A. album, The Spirit Of Apollo.

The multi-talented former Talking Heads frontman issued Big Love: Hymnal — Music Written For The HBO Series Plus Other Recent Compositions last year.

Byrne is still touring in support of Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, last year's collaborative album with Brian Eno. You can see him here:
