Springsteen Accused Of Adultery

Bruce Springsteen

A New Jersey man who's divorcing his wife claims Bruce Springsteen had an affair with her.

Arthur Kelly of Red Bank, N.J. filed divorce papers at Monmouth County Superior Court on March 27 in which he said his wife of 17 years, Ann Kelly, was having an affair with the rock star.

"The defendant has committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, New Jersey and Colts Neck, New Jersey, at various times and places too numerous to mention," the suit reads.

Springsteen's spokesperson denied the allegations and told The Star-Ledger newspaper that the rocker stood by a statement written on his website three years ago when he was accused of infidelity.

"Patti [Scialfa, Springsteen's wife] and I have been together for 18 years — the best 18 years of my life," the statement read. "We have built a beautiful family we love and want to protect and our commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married."

Ann Kelly also denied the rumours.

"All she wants everyone to know is that she's denying all this," her lawyer, Noel Tonneman, told the New York Daily News.

Kelly's father, divorce lawyer Stephen Carton, told the Daily News that his daughter and Springsteen were friends through a local gym and only had a "talking relationship."

The Daily News also reported Ann Kelly had filed a domestic abuse complaint against Arthur Kelly, who the paper says was arrested and charged with simple assault on March 3 and taken out of the Kelly family home in West Long Branch, N.J. Kelly's divorce complaint stated a temporary restraining order had been filed against him and was dismissed on March 26, but it didn't mention who was seeking the restraining order.

Arthur Kelly's lawyer, Edward Fradkin, denied the domestic abuse allegations and said Ann Kelly dismissed the restraining order.

Springsteen was previously married to actress Julianne Phillips and was accused of cheating on her in 1988 with Scialfa, whom he married in 1991.

Springsteen and Scialfa have three children.
