Tiga Says Ciao!

Montreal DJ Tiga will release his sophomore album, Ciao!, on May 26 through Last Gang.

The album features guest appearances from LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, Gonzales, Soulwax, Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears and Finnish DJ Jori Hulkkonen, among others. You can hear "Shoes," "Mind Dimension," "What You Need" and "Overtime" on Tiga's MySpace page.

Tiga (real name Tiga James Sontag) did things a bit differently while working on Ciao!: he wrote songs before recording them.

"I thought this would primarily entail aging sheet music with teabags, but I quickly learned otherwise," Tiga says. "It’s ultimately a matter of trusting yourself, of having the courage to say, 'These are the times, and these are the rhymes.'

"Having now been through the process, I feel I have become exactly what Leonard Cohen would be if he owned a jet ski with a detachable sidecar. Or a bicycle built for two where the riders face each other. I call it a Spicycle."

Tiga's Sexor debut won a 2007 Juno Award for best dance recording. He's remixed the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Cabaret Voltaire and Bran Van 3000.
