Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about Soundgarden's (or should we say Tadgarden's?) "reunion" last month, and he's also given his views on Trent Reznor's less-than-kind comments about his recently released Scream solo album.
Cornell told the Washington Post newspaper that he "probably would've gotten up onstage" if he'd been at the impromptu appearance his former Soundgarden bandmates made with Tom Morello and TAD's Tad Doyle at Morello's Seattle show on March 24.
"I thought it was cool that they'd actually get together and rehearse some songs," he said. "I was kind of surprised by it, to be honest.
"And I love Tad. We toured with Tad; I’ve always felt he was a really amazing person and a really talented guy.
"So I just really thought it was a cool thing for them to do. They were just getting up there and doing it for fun, and I think that's great.
"The only thing I didn’t like is that I wasn’t there to see it."
Cornell didn't rule out the possibility of eventually reuniting with his former Soundgarden bandmates, telling the publication, "You never know."
Cornell told the newspaper he thought Reznor's comments were "kind of childish."
"To be honest, if I wanted to go out and blast records that I hate, I would be sitting on Twitter 24 hours a day blasting 96 per cent of what comes out — maybe 98 per cent of what comes out," he said. "There's a lot of music that I don't like.
"A lot of people hated [Scream], even people who were fans of us and had liked what we'd done until then hated it. They didn't get it. That was exciting, actually. I like that feeling."
