Twilight Sparks Adaline Buzz

If you're a Twilight fan, there's a good chance you may already know of Adaline. If you don't, here's the story of how she's been attracting a lot of attention lately.

Adaline is a Vancouver-based singer/songwriter who played a showcase at last weekend's JunoFest in her hometown. She happened to bump into Twilight star Robert Pattinson (a.k.a. sexy vampire Edward Cullen) at the Gibson after-party at Richard's On Richards. Pattinson is in Vancouver shooting the Twilight sequel, New Moon.

The two ended up having a conversation, and Adaline wrote that she'd met him on her Twitter. An unnamed source found her Twitter post and linked to it, saying, "Rob Pattinson was sighted by Adaline, a great Vancouver Indie singer and musician," which also linked to her MySpace page. By the next day, she'd logged more than 3,000 plays on her MySpace page and received tons of messages from Twilight fans. Her songs were played more than 23,000 times over the next 40 hours.

It just goes to show that you should never underestimate crazy teenage vampire freaks and their ability to use social media.

"Who would have ever thought that one small Twitter post would result in over 20,000 plays of my music and hundreds and hundreds of personal messages of encouragement," Adaline wrote in a March 30 MySpace blog entry. "What is most touching is that many of you have said that even though you came across my website because of my chance meeting with Robert, that many of you are staying because of my music. This is why I make music - so I can share it with you.

"So thank you for the kind words - for telling me which songs are speaking to you - for passing on my website to your friends and family. I am so grateful."

Adaline is offering a free MP3 of her "Whiter/Straighter" single from her Famous For Fire debut. She said in another March 30 blog entry that it would be available here "for the next week."
