Get Dirty With The Cliks

The Cliks' follow-up to 2007's Snakehouse was tentatively scheduled for a March release the last time we checked in with the Toronto band. But since that month has now passed, we can tell you Dirty King will be released by Warner Music Canada on June 23.

Transgendered female-to-male singer/guitarist Lucas Silveira, drummer Morgan Doctor and bassist Jen Benton recorded their third album with producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers) late last year at her Radio Star Studios in Weed, Calif.

The Cliks were part of Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour in 2007 and 2008 and opened for The Cult last year. They also appeared on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and MTV's Total Request Live in support of Snakehouse. Silveira (not his lookalike) and Lauper also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as part of the extensive promotional activity for Snakehouse that left Silveira drained by the end of it.

"The album is based around defeat, lies, deception, loss of trust in others and yourself," says Silveira. "I wrote the album coming from a really lonely place...

"Dirty King is more about having risen out of the ashes, being on your feet, but constantly having to dodge people trying to knock you down."
