Nerd Alert: Rivers/Rainn Collaboration

Here's possibly the nerdiest news you'll hear all day: Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and The Office's Rainn Wilson (a.k.a. Dwight Schrute) have covered Joan Osborne's "One Of Us."
Weezer's website states Cuomo will debut "several all new recordings" featuring Wilson ("who's got more than just acting chops in his arsenal" and who starred as a naked drummer in last year's music-related film The Rocker) and Joe LoPiccolo.
One of those songs will be "One Of Us," according to Pitchfork.com. It will debut on Sirius Satellite Radio station Alt Nation on April 11 along with a new version of "Paper Face" from Cuomo's Alone II: The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo. Cuomo will co-host The Alternative Nation Countdown Takeover with actor (and Coconut Records main man) Jason Schwartzman, who will also debut new songs on the show.
Cuomo will release CD and DVD versions of last year's Fingerprintz in-store hootenanny via DGC/Interscope on April 28.
Cuomo summoned Weezer super-fans from across the country to join him for a jam session to celebrate the release of Alone II in December. The eccentric frontman let the 150 lucky fans pick the songs, which they'd never played together prior to the performance.
The CD version (which you can pre-order here) includes six songs from the Nov. 25 show, while the DVD (which you can pre-order here) has 12 tracks and includes the video for "My Brain Is Working Overtime" plus "clips of Rivers doing a pre-in-store interview while warming up on an exer-cycle at a nearby hotel" and an interview with Cuomo and Schwartzman.
Weezer will play on July 26 at Tokyo, Japan's Fujirock Festival. Their official blog also hints "there will be more international and North American shows announced when they are confirmed."
