Kaiser Chiefs have been invited to open for Green Day on their still unannounced North American summer tour, according to frontman Ricky Wilson.
"I can't wait," Wilson told the U.K.'s Daily Star tabloid. "We're booked up until September, then we'll see what happens."
Wilson also said he's excited to start working on Kaiser Chiefs' fourth album and hopes the tour will give him some new inspiration.
"We've gotta have some new stuff to write about because we've done it all," he said.
Rumours were circulating that Wilson would ditch Kaiser Chiefs to start a television career, but the energetic frontman laid that issue to rest.
"I'm too into being in the band," he said. "They'd have to pay me a fuckload of money to do TV."
Wilson also told the Daily Star that Kaiser Chiefs have been working on other projects. Drummer Nick Hodgson has started making electronic music and keyboardist Nick "Peanut" Baines has started building a home studio.
Hodgson is also helping Duran Duran write songs for their new album, according to NME.com. He's currently in the studio with singer Simon Le Bon and producer Mark Ronson (Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse), who produced Kaiser Chiefs' Off With Their Heads.
"I called Nick a week ago and asked if he'd be interested in coming to work with Duran Duran and write a song," said Ronson.
"He's never done that before, because he only writes with Ricky and his own band, but I thought it made a lot of sense because there's a lot of Kaiser Chiefs songs I could imagine being on a Duran Duran record 25 years ago."
Kaiser Chiefs will play England's Reading Festival on Aug. 28 and the Leeds Festival two days later. You can also see them here:
