Amanda Palmer Returns To High School

Amanda Palmer is known for her flair for the dramatic as both a solo artist and half of The Dresden Dolls, so it shouldn't be surprising that she's rehearsing for a play.

The twist: Palmer will be part of a play based on Neutral Milk Hotel's 1998 In The Aeroplane Over The Sea album with students of her alma mater, Lexington High School in Lexington, Mass.

Palmer recently completed an exhausting world tour in support of her Who Killed Amanda Palmer solo debut, and the 32-year-old keyboard and ukulele-playing singer/songwriter will work with people half her age in a play that will run from May 7 to 9 in the school's 1,000-person capacity auditorium. The play is about music and the Holocaust and was written by drama students, with musical accompaniment by Palmer.

Palmer will take time out from her rehearsals to appear at an all-ages gig with The Dirty Novels at the Santa Fe Brewing Company in Santa Fe, N.M. on April 13 and at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. on April 18.

Palmer has had a rocky relationship with Roadrunner Records, which released Who Killed Amanda Palmer last year, and is doing her best to sever her ties with the label. She took that one step further on Saturday when she performed a song called "Drop Me" in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Here it is:
