Smashing Pumpkins singer/guitarist
Billy Corgan is working on new material with audio engineer Kerry Brown and
Mark Tulin, the bassist for the '60s psychedelic rock outfit
The Electric Prunes, after
parting ways with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.
Although not many details are known, a video on the Pumpkins'
website shows a record player with The Electric Prunes signature hit "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" on the turntable.
"It's going well and I'm very happy and in a great mood," Corgan said in a March 26
post on the Pumpkins' website about the five new demos in the works. "I'm not sad (about what has happened), actually excited to be working on new SP!"
As far as the musical direction that the new material is going in, Corgan says, "The songs sound like Spring!"
Corgan says he'll begin the official recording process in May.
