Ronson Rescues Winehouse's Career

Mark Ronson has signed on to help resurrect Amy Winehouse's dwindling music career, but it took some convincing to get him on board.

Things didn't turn out so well the last time the pair were supposed to work together. Winehouse was supposed to collaborate with Ronson on the theme for Quantum Of Solace last April, but the producer canned the project and stated the singer wasn't ready.

Ronson vowed not to work with her again until she sorted out her drug problems, according to U.K. tabloid The Sun.

"Mark does not have fond memories of collaborating with Amy last year," an unnamed source told the newspaper. "He thinks she's much better now, so has agreed to come on board and do a little work with her on some of her songs."

Winehouse took an extended vacation in St. Lucia to rest and get off drugs.

"Mark's now happy to give Amy the help she requires," the Sun article reports. "They gelled while recording Back To Black and he's hopeful some of that magic could return."

I bet Winehouse's label has their fingers crossed for that to happen, too.

Rumours swirled earlier this week that Island Records had rejected Winehouse's latest batch of songs for her third album. The lyrics were said to be too dark and she'd traded her signature soul sound for more of a reggae vibe. The label denies those claims.

Recent mom M.I.A. is set to replace Wino's spot at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival next month. Winehouse was forced to pull out of the gig after receiving an assault charge for allegedly punching a woman at a charity event last year.

It seems Winehouse is still causing trouble no matter where she goes. The singer is settling into her new abode in Barnet after leaving her drug habits in her old neighbourhood in Camden, but almost lost her hair. According to the U.K.'s The Daily Mirror, she was apparently jamming with some new friends at her North London house when fuses blew and sparks lit her famous beehive on fire.

But Winehouse has the moolah to make that hair pretty again — for her estranged husband. She's spent 35,000 British pounds (about $62,000 Canadian) on a new beauty regime to win back Blake Fielder-Civil's love, according to Britain's Look magazine. Winehouse reportedly spent 10,000 pounds on new gym equipment, 20,000 on designer clothes and 5,000 on beauty treatments.

"Amy is serious about getting back with Blake and is willing to overlook the other women," a source told Look. "She says he just needs to be reminded of what he's missing."

Fielder-Civil started divorce proceedings against Winehouse in January when she was reportedly unfaithful in St. Lucia. He has reportedly since moved in with 17-year-old girlfriend Francesca Morralee.
