British rockers Kasabian will make their "Vlad The Impaler" single available as a free download on their website for four days beginning on March 31.
The song, not to be confused with the Gwar number of the same name, is from the group's forthcoming The West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Guitarist Serge Pizzorno told NME.com that he's excited about it.
"After a few listens, people will understand why it's first because it blows the doors off," he said. "I wanted it to have a Beastie Boys and Clash feel."
The "Vlad The Impaler" video, featuring British comedian Noel Fielding and directed by Richard Ayoade, will also premiere on the group's site on March 31.
"Fire," the first physical single from The West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum, will be released in the U.K. on June 1. The album, somewhat surprisingly produced by Dan The Automator (Gorillaz, Peeping Tom), will follow a week later.
Kasabian formed in 1999 and released their self-titled debut five years later. Empire, which topped the U.K. sales chart, followed in 2006. The group's current lineup features Pizzorno, lead singer Tom Meighan, bassist Chris Edwards, drummer Ian Matthews and guitarist Jay Mehler.
The Leicester band have these dates scheduled:
March 25 Leeds, England @ Academy
March 27 London, England @ Royal Albert Hall
May 14 Brighton, England @ Great Escape Festival
June 22 Belfast, Northern Ireland @ St. George's Market
July 4 Cornwall, England @ The Eden Project
