When you're fined for speeding, you don't normally expect the police officer who gave you the ticket to email you the next day and tell you he likes you.
But that's what happened to Plants And Animals, who received a speeding ticket from an RCMP officer on Monday and then posted this on their MySpace blog the next day:
"Subject: New Fan
"Hello Band,
"Hey I'm the RCMP officer who gave you a speeding ticket today. Just thought I'd let you know...when I returned to the office I googled your band and listened to your music online. You may have gotten a ticket today but on the bright side you definitely got some exposure. I emailed my music savvy friends and family to tell them to check out your music!
"Best of luck with the Junos!"
Plants And Animals' Parc Avenue is up for a best alternative album Juno Award, while the band have been nominated for best new artist. The album was also nominated last year for the Polaris Music Prize, though the group were more interested in winning the Polaris Darts Prize. We wonder if the cop will be watching the CTV broadcast on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
