E Street Band Nepotism

When Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band head to Europe later this spring, they will probably be without drummer Max Weinberg for a few dates.

But according to authoritative fan site Backstreets.com, Weinberg's son, Jay Weinberg, will be his replacement. The switch will be for a handful of European concerts when Springsteen kicks off his European tour May 30 in Holland and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, with the Max Weinberg 7 as the house band, starts on June 1.

"Once again, I want to express my appreciation to Conan O'Brian, and everyone on his team, for making it possible for Max to continue to do double duty for both us and for him," Springsteen said in a statement. "We promise to return him in one piece."

The upcoming Working On A Dream tour begins April 1 in San Jose, but Springsteen and the band are playing two rehearsal shows today and tomorrow in Asbury Park. The tour hits Toronto's Air Canada Centre on May 7.
