NIN + Jane's Addiction = NIN|JA

What do Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails sound like when you put them together? NIN|JA.

This is what the two acts are dubbing their upcoming tour with Tom Morello's Street Sweeper project, mainly because it makes sense as an acronym, and we also imagine if you were to take the two bands and put them together, they probably would sound something like a '90s alt.rock ninja.

Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction have set up a special tour website, where you can download the NIN|JA 2009 Tour Sampler, a six-track tour teaser which includes two new versions of Jane's Addiction's "Chip Away" and "Whores," which were produced by Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Alan Moulder.

"Just to get some creative just flowing, we went into the studio for about two weeks," Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell told Billboard.com. "We had the idea to re-record two tunes, just because they'd never been officially done in the studio.

"And we had some fun writing some new things. A handful that are close to finished, but not quite done. But there's no rush to put anything out at this point."

The sampler also includes two previously unreleased Nine Inch Nails tracks and two Street Sweeper tracks. You can download it for free from the NIN|JA website.

Jane's Addiction will also release a rarities box set dubbed A Cabinet Of Curiosities on April 21 through Rhino. It will include three CDs and a DVD that features the Soul Kiss documentary and Gift, the 1993 film starring the original members of Jane's Addiction and Ice-T.
