Barenaked Ladies have placed their March 7 concert at Orlando's Universal Studios online as a free download.
It's the band's first concert since they parted company with singer/guitarist Stephen Page. The free download will be available until March 27.
"Yes, we were excited," drummer Tyler Stewart wrote about the gig on the band's site.
"Yes, we were nervous – definitely more excited than nervous though,
which propelled the energy level to heights normally associated with
'90s era BNL, not to mention the good vibes from the 14,000 or so of
you that showed up to kick off the new era.
"Upon listening you'll hear us getting our sea-legs after a couple of
songs. You'll also hear our soundman of 18 years, Robin Billinton,
figuring out where back-up vocals are coming from, as myself, Ed [Robertson, guitar/vocals], Kev
[Hearn, keyboards], and Jim [Creeggan, bass] all try to remember our
new parts.
"There's
nothing like a good old fashioned learning curve to keep a bunch of
seasoned pros on their toes! We hope you enjoy it... warts and all!!"
As of late Thursday night, the demand for the concert resulted in the page crashing and a temporary page being created.
According to various posts on the band's message board, the band
performed "If I Had $1,000,000" with a snippet of KISS' "I Wanna Rock
And Roll All Night" weaved into it, "Humans," "When I Fall" and "The Old Apartment," among others.
Barenaked Ladies plan to head into the studio next month to begin
work on a new studio album, which they say should come out in September.
