Durst: Britney Fling Was Real

Fred Durst insists his alleged fling with Britney Spears really happened, but he's now called it a "fiasco of madness" and says his rumoured affair with the singer was "taboo" at the time.
Spears asked Durst to write some songs for her in 2003, and it was rumoured they'd done much more than work together. Durst later told the press that Spears "happens to be a person that I [wouldn't] have thought could make me feel this way."
Spears denied the two were an item, which prompted Durst to tell radio host Howard Stern that he wasn't lying and it was "unbelievable about this crap [Spears is] saying."
Durst says he's now able to put the episode into perspective, considering it happened right before Spears fell apart.
"I look back on it as very interesting [in terms of] how things have been sort of unravelling for her since," he told MTV News recently. "[But] it is what it is. I can sleep at night knowing I made decisions that I wanted to make. [Still], I'm a supporter. I was then, I guess I am now.
"Her own decisions and different things in her life, people can judge her all they want, but she has an extreme presence and when she's giving it, it's really good.
"I don't think you can really write her off and I just think it'd be silly for people to think that they could. Everything kind of works in cycles and I think she's an example of how those things work."
Durst has reunited his old band, Limp Bizkit (don't you feel lucky?), and he and guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal are working together for the first time since Borland left the band for a second time in 2006.
Durst recently told E! Online that he'd orchestrated the split because he couldn't stand how popular Limp Bizkit were with bullies.
"I got beat up all the time in high school," he said. "All of my angst comes from that [time] in my life.
"The irony is, Limp Bizkit, for a while, was the fuel for bullies to beat up a lot of these underdogs. That's when I decided to stop. I was like, 'You know, that's me they're beating up, and my music is fueling them.' So I held back for a while."
Hopefully d-bags galore will rejoice when they see this video of Limp Bizkit rehearsing "My Way" in the studio on March 10:
