Constantines Release Kensington Heights Companion EP

Constantines
Constantines have released a six-song companion EP to last year's Kensington Heights to coincide with their Rolling Tundra Revue tour with The Weakerthans, which starts this week.

The Too Slow For Love EP features "stripped down," alternate versions of Constantines songs from Kensington Heights, 2005's Tournament Of Hearts and 2003's Shine A Light. It also includes a cover of Jon Langford & The Sadies' "Strange Birds." You can get the album for free when you purchase Kensington Heights on iTunes beginning today (Tuesday), and it's also available separately for $5.99 through iTunes and Arts & Crafts' webstore.

Constantines and The Weakerthans have announced a joint "Rock, Don't Drive!" initiative that's designed to reduce the environmental impacts of their upcoming tour. They're encouraging fans to use public transit, carpool or walk to get to their shows. If fans show their bus pass, bike helmet or carpool gang at the merch table throughout the tour, they'll receive a special button that's not regularly for sale.

"Touring from one end of the country to the other is no small feat," The Weakerthans said in a statement. "[We] are well aware of the environmental impact of things like tour buses which burn fuel, and audio and lighting systems which draw electricity.

"The 'Rolling Tundra Revue' is attempting to control some of the environmental impacts that this tour will have, and we've solicited advice from across Canada about how to mitigate some of these effects.

"As the tour progresses, we'll be letting people know how it's going. We don't for a second think that we're alleviating all of the environmental impact of our tour, but we're hoping we can make some change and encourage others to do the same."
