Pete Doherty claims he sold acid to The Strokes in 2001 before he joined The Libertines.
"I actually already knew [The Strokes] before I was in a band or anything," Doperty says in the new issue of ShortList magazine. "It was back when I was working in a bar pulling pints. I used to sell a few little things on the side, you know?
"They were on their first tour, and were like just a few American lads in London looking for a good time. They met a friend of mine, who said I could get them a few bits and bobs. I think I sold them a load of acid, they gave me tickets to their gig, I got them some more acid and it went from there."
Doperty is still lobbying Carl Barat to reform The Libertines for big paydays, and he's also heavily promoting his Grace/Wastelands solo debut that will be released in North America on March 24. It's streaming on Doperty's MySpace page now, which might have something to do with it having leaked on to the internet a few days ago.
Doperty and his record company rented a double-decker bus and loaded it with fans in Paris, France on Tuesday night. He chatted while being driven around the city and also performed a few songs, including The Libertines' "The Good Old Days":
