Jack White's New Supergroup

Two bands aren't enough for Jack White.
The White Stripes and Raconteurs singer/guitarist's third band, The Dead Weather, made their debut at a private show in Nashville on Wednesday night.
White sings and drums in the new combo, who also include The Kills' Alison Mosshart on lead vocals, The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence on bass and Queens Of The Stone Age's Dean Fertita on guitar.
The Dead Weather's Horehound debut album was produced by White and will be released in June on his Third Man Records label.
Third Man just opened a new White-designed space in downtown Nashville that includes an office, a vinyl record store, a photo studio, a dark room and a rehearsal and performance space where the group performed their five-song set on Wednesday. Meg White, Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and The Raconteurs' Brendan Benson and Patrick Keeler were among the 150 people in attendance.
RollingStone.com had a representative at the show, who described The Dead Weather's sound like this:
"The tracks — a sludgy, bluesy blend of psych-rock guitar, alternately stark and explosive rhythms and Mosshart’s sultry-to-siren vocal — take relatively logical leaps from the members' other bands, White's groove-heavy drumming elevating the Dead Weather's Stripes-esque blues-rock moods and Fertita and Mosshart pulling in atmosphere and disaffected cool, respectively."
The groundwork was laid for The Dead Weather when The Raconteurs and The Kills toured together last year and Mosshart was invited on stage to sing a number of songs when White was suffering from a slipped disc and severe bronchitis that affected his voice.
The Dead Weather had planned to record a seven-inch single in a day, but things clicked so well that they ended up recording an album over two weeks in Nashville.
The Dead Weather plan to play more shows after the record's release and Mosshart's tour commitments with The Kills are up.
A limited-edition, hand-painted seven-inch vinyl pressing of The Dead Weather's "Hang You From The Heavens" debut single backed with a cover of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?" was made available at Wednesday's showcase. The songs are for sale on iTunes and can be heard on The Dead Weather's website.
