Sonic Youth And Zeppelin Bassist Dance Together

Sonic Youth and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones worked together on a piece of music for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company that they'll perform from April 16 to 19 to celebrate Cunningham's birthday.
"Nearly Ninety" was written by Sonic Youth, Jones and mixed media sound composer Takehisa Kosugi. It will debut at the Brooklyn Academy Of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, N.Y. to honour the 90-year-old choreographer's work and influence. It appropriately runs 90 minutes with an intermission.
The Merce Cunningham Dance Company has previously collaborated on performances with Radiohead, Sigur Ros and the late John Cage. Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore performed with the troupe in the late '90s, and Jones was a guest musician with them in London, England in 2005.
Sonic Youth's 16th album, The Eternal, will be released by Matador Records on June 9. You can see the band without Jones here:
