The 40th anniversary of the inaugural Woodstock Festival is in August and will be celebrated with free shows in New York and Berlin, Germany.
There's no location yet for the New York concerts, which are scheduled for Aug. 15 and 16. There are no confirmed performers either, but promoter Michael Lang hopes to land a mix of current stars and artists who performed at Max Yasgur's farm in upstate New York in 1969. These include Santana, The Who, Joan Baez, Joe Cocker, The Grateful Dead and Country Joe And The Fish.
A similar group of artists are anticipated for the Berlin shows at the now-closed Tempelhof Airport on Aug. 22 and 23. The location has drawn criticism from some Germans, who say it will ruin the peace and love vibe of the original Woodstock since the airport was a Nazi stronghold during World War II.
Hippies and Nazis aren't a good mix, unless the hippies are unknowingly auditioning for Springtime For Hitler:

Wasn't all of Germany and a large part of Europe a Nazi stronghold during WWII?
