Canadian Radio Star Finalists At CMW

Even if you can't be in Toronto next month to see the country's Canadian Radio Star national songwriting competition finalists perform their songs, you can still decide the winner.

Twelve finalists will perform their winning songs at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel's Library Bar on March 13 as part of Canadian Music Week. Andy Kim and Tomi Swick will host the show and perform.

The regional finalists were picked by participating radio stations and public online voting based on the creativity, originality, composition, lyrics, melody and radio airplay potential of their songs.

The public is again encouraged to vote for their favourite songwriter through the Radio Star website from now until March 12 at midnight. Popular vote, combined with the decisions by a panel of judges chosen by the Songwriters Association Of Canada, will determine the grand prize winner, who will be announced at the finale of the March 13 showcase.

The national grand prize winner will receive: $10,000 in cash; a Tascam 2488 NEO PortaStudio; a Neumann TLM 49 professional studio microphone; 30 hours of mixing and mastering time from Metalworks studio; complete website design and one year web hosting from J.E.T. Media And Design; and a $5,000 national radio promotion package from dB Promotions & Publicity Inc.

The winner and the first runner-up (who will also receive $2,500) will get one free digital radio station upload to the format of their choice by RDR Music Group in conjunction with DMDS.
