Maybe Kid Rock can ask that pesky judge he doesn't like if having a beer named after himself counts as community service. After all, quenching many people's thirsts and creating jobs aren't easy tasks. Have you heard about this global recession we're having?
Rock will reportedly work with the Michigan Brewing Company to create a new beer that will be named after the singer.
"He's working on designing the beer, he's giving me direction, he's tasting the beers," Michigan Brewing Company owner and brewer Bobby Mason told the Detroit Free Press newspaper. "It's his idea, it's his concept. I'm just working with him to make it happen."
The Michigan Brewing Company reportedly received a $722,957 tax credit towards creating the beer. It will also invest $7 million into brewing the product, which is expected to create about 400 new jobs.
Mason told the Detroit Free Press that he hopes the company will double its current production and sell at least 100,000 cases of Kid Rock-branded beer each year, which could result in 150 more new jobs over the next five years.
In other alcohol and rock star-related news, a judge has ordered all bottles of Jimi Hendrix Electric vodka pulled from store shelves. Buy 'em while you can because, just like the guitarist, they'll soon be history.
Hendrix's estate has been awarded a $3.2 million judgment after a U.S. District Court judge ruled that Craig Dieffenbach and Electric Hendrix Spirits, LLC had infringed on copyrights with Jimi Hendrix Electric vodka, which featured bottles that included Hendrix's image and signature.
Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix — the companies that own Hendrix's music, trademarks and licensing rights — filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Dieffenbach and Electric Hendrix Spirits in 2007. They claimed Dieffenbach deceived the public into believing the Hendrix family supported the sale of Hendrix Electric vodka when it didn't.
