Crystal Castles Attack Fan

If you've ever seen Crystal Castles live, you know their shows can sometimes get a bit out of control. It's not uncommon to have fans climbing on (Harbourfront 2008, anyone?) and over you at one of their gigs so they can get closer to singer Alice Glass.

The footage in the video below, which was uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 31, shows fans that are positively subdued for a Crystal Castles gig. But that might just be because there's a barrier between the crowd and the stage. But things go awry about a minute-and-a-half in when Glass appears to thwack a fan with her microphone and calls him a "fucker."

She then climbs up and over the crowd and continues swinging her microphone and smacking someone with it, while a security guard pulls her back. The security guy then goes into the crowd to eject the fan from the gig.

It's not clear when, where or why this happened (please tell us if you know), but here's the video:

I posted the video on the crystalcastles.org message board, and someone replied saying Alice had hit this person because he/she tried to grope her.

I'd be thankful to be removed from a Crystal Castles show. But the only time I saw them — by accident at Toronto's The Boat a couple of years ago before they got big — was one of those occasions when I didn't get kicked out of a bar.

I wanted to be kicked out when I saw them at Harbourfront last summer. There were so many people there that they were climbing over the seats and other people to get closer to the front (seats = BAD IDEA at a Crystal Castles show), and the aisles were clogged, no one could move and everyone was pushing like crazy. That was an accident waiting to happen. I honestly thought lots of people were going to be hurt.

Would you get the story right... I would hardly call someone who tries to feel her up a fan. Good on her I say. If I was her I wouldn't take that shit either.
