Exactly one week ago, we quoted guitarist Wes Borland as saying he had "no plans on working with" Limp Bizkit again, despite rumours he'd been offered a lot of cash to do so.
Maybe the money was too good to refuse, but something has changed in the past seven days.
The original Bizkit lineup of Borland, singer Fred Durst, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and turntablist DJ Lethal are reuniting.
"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other," said a joint statement issued by Durst and Borland.
"Regardless of where our separate paths have taken us, we recognize there is a powerful and unique energy with this particular group of people we have not found anywhere else. This is why Limp Bizkit is back."
The group will launch a world tour in the spring by hitting the European music festival circuit — including confirmed appearances at Germany's Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park — and headlining some of their own shows. Markets will include such new territories for the band as Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic countries. More dates are expected to be announced shortly, if things don't implode before then.
Limp Bizkit's first original album since 2005's The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) is also planned. Durst, Otto and Rivers said they were working on new material late last year.
Limp Bizkit's first three albums — Three Dollar Bill, Yall$, Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water — sold more than 33 million copies, including 20 million in the U.S. and 1.5 million in Canada. Sales for 2003's Results May Vary and The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) were much lower.
Borland left the group in 2001, but rejoined in 2004. He left again two years later. He's been busy with his industrial group, Black Light Burns, since then.
