Kanye West Likes The Acorn

A few more people might turn out for The Acorn's European shows in a month now that Kanye West has given the Ottawa band his stamp of approval.

"THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!," West wrote in his typically understated fashion of The Acorn's "Crooked Legs" video on his blog on Thursday.

Have a look and see if you agree with the narcissistic hip-hop star:

Acorn frontman Rolf Klausener thought enough of West's support that he extended this invitation to him in a comment on the rapper's blog entry:

"Come over for a barbeque next time you're in Ottawa. We can drink some cheap beer and play with the neighbourhood cats."

We're not sure if there's a big crossover between West and Acorn fans, but the endorsement can't hurt.

Then again, probably less than five per cent of the people who will attend The Acorn's European shows opening for Fleet Foxes and Elbow will be there to see the band named after a thing that squirrels store for the winter. Those who are dedicated enough to The Acorn would see them whether West recommended them or not.

Here are The Acorn's dates:

Feb. 25 Paris, France @ La Cigale w/Fleet Foxes

Completely unnecessary and irrelevant to the story to call Kanye narcissistic. He's doing a good thing by giving publicity to a great band.

The fact that this is even a big deal and a story for you is kind of feeding into his ego, no?

"The fact that this is even a big deal and a story for you is kind of feeding into his ego, no?"

At this rate, even saying "Kanye West" feeds Kanye's ego.

But thanks for feeding our collective ego by commenting.

If you read my comment before jumping to the dictionary, you’d see that I never really tried to negate Kanye’s narcissism. I just don’t see how using that as a descriptor is relevant to this story. It’s an unnecessary dig when the rest of the post actually lauds what he did. If your story was about his narcissism, it would be fair game, but it wasn’t. Thanks for the lesson, though, I never knew what narcissism meant before!

PS: Your reply comment box runs off the middle column and under the distracting right column in Firefox. Between this and Brophy's 'tude, you're really not making commenting on Chart a pleasant experience.

I've never bothered to register for this site but to comment in this one case makes it worth it.  No wonder its only staff members commenting on this blog (which is pretty pathetic), the ‘welcoming committee’ here is unbearable
