Silverstein Launch KFC Sandwich Eating Contest

Silverstein have partnered with People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals' young adults branch, PETA2, to launch a new Kentucky Fried Chicken vegetarian sandwich "eating challenge."

Vocalist Shane Told, guitarists Neal Boshart and Josh Bradford, bassist Bill Hamilton and drummer Paul Koehler visited a KFC in their hometown of Burlington, Ont. to eat as many sandwiches as they could in one sitting. Bradford won the contest after scarfing down six vegan versions of the Classic Vegetarian Sandwich. You can watch the guys in action at PETA2's website.

Silverstein have previously helped PETA2 campaign against KFC, but that was back when there were no vegetarian options at the fast food chain. None of the band members eat meat.

As part of the contest, PETA2 and Silverstein want you and your friends to head to the nearest Canadian KFC (American KFCs do not carry the vegetarian sandwich) and order as many vegetarian sandwiches as you can eat in one sitting. (Note: If you're vegan, the sandwich can be altered to fit your diet by getting it made as a wrap without the mayo.) Photograph yourselves while eating, and then send the pictures to StreetTeam@peta2.com before March 31.

If you aren't keen on fast food, you can just make tons of vegetarian or vegan food at home with your friends, eat as much as possible, photograph the action and send the pics to the same email address. But it won't be as cool if you don't have a smiling Colonel Sanders in your shot.

The person who takes the most creative photo will receive a Hitachi DZGX5020A DVD camcorder. More information about the contest can be found on PETA2's website.
