Toronto's Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker often shorten their name to USS, and the time until the release of their Questamation full-length debut is also shortening.
The follow-up to the Welding The C:/ EP will be released on March 10 through the duo's Smashing World Records label. Singer/guitarist/erhu player Ashley Boo-Schultz (real name Ashley Buchholz) and turntablist/hype man Human Kebab (real name Jason Parsons) came up with the new songs while touring in support of the EP.
The album was recorded at Rainbow Trout Studios just outside Toronto. The two main men were aided musically by Chris Davies and Charles Topping. The 12 tracks were produced and engineered by Matthew Wagner (Crystal Castles, Alpha Galates).
Lead single "Laces Out" can be heard on USS' MySpace page.
USS, who won CASBY Awards for best new artist and single ("Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole") in October, have kept the momentum going by signing a worldwide publishing deal with Sony ATV.
USS will do their best to get folks dancing when they play the Independent Music Awards show at Toronto's Royal York Hotel on March 14 as part of Canadian Music Week.
Here are the songs, in no particular order, on Questamation:
"Better Living Centre"
"Anti-Venom"
"Man Makes The Zoo"
"Stranger To Myself"
"Neurochemical"
"Laces Out"
"3 Purple Butterflies"
"Stationery Robbery"
"Cloudboy"
"P.S. I Can Change"
"Visionary Science Patrol"
"Me Vs Us"
